Encouraging others in Christ

IT’S SIMPLY a MATTER of SURRENDER:))

Have you ever thought about the word surrender? As Christians, we read and hear a lot about how we are to ‘surrenderour lives to Christ. I believe sometimes we think that we have until another obstacle arises and we find ourselves in the middle of yet another growth spurt.
Surrender means giving up possession of or power over; yield to another on demand or compulsion.emoticon gif animated smile images 19

JOB 11:13-15 Contemporary English Version (CEV)

13 Surrender your heart to God, turn to Him in prayer,
14 and give up your sins- even those you do in secret,
15 Then you won’t be ashamed; you will be confident and fearless.

In a sense, surrender and faith go hand and hand. Christ meant for the Gospel to be straightforward and easily understood. The word surrender can be misunderstood as being to difficult for us actually to live as we should for Christ, but as believers in God’s Holy Word, we are to trust what Scripture tells us to do and obey how He wants ¬†us to live in obedience to Him. images
To surrender ourselves is just as simple as taking God’s Word at face value as to what it implies. We aren’t going to be perfect; we can expect to make mistakes daily, but knowing that God knows all things that we do and say can lead us to pray and ask for forgiveness to be forgiven.
By staying in a right condition with Christ causes us to be usable for Him, and keeps us in a ‘surrendered’ state.
It’s a matter of obeying His Word and nothing more. Now isn’t that simpler than you thought?
FRUITFUL OBSERVATION: We can sometimes make the Christian life harder than it’s meant to be, it’s a matter of applying our faith and fully obeying.

Let’s do our best today and every day to apply God’s Word to our daily lives and be fully surrendered for His use! ūüôā9f745d8c3a672b6d58d29040d4b8cf68

A HEART CONDITION CAN BE FATAL!!!

How many times have you been having a great day and then allow yourself to lose focus? Scripture tells us that it is important for us to keep our focus on the right things in life.1d3954052d24d5f8ebb4500a3eaf3956

PROVERBS 4:23-27

23 Keep thy heart with all diligence;
for out of it are the issues of life.
24 Put away from thee a froward mouth,
and perverse lips put far from thee.
25 Let thine eyes look right on,
and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.
26 Ponder the path of thy feet,
and let all thy ways be established.
27 Turn not to the right hand nor to the left:
remove thy foot from evil.

Our heart-our feeling of love and desire dictates to a great extent how we live, because we always find time to do what we enjoy. Solomon tells us to keep our heart with all diligence, making sure we concentrate on those desires that will keep us on the right path.

Make sure your affections push you in the¬†right direction. Put boundaries on your desires: don’t go after everything you see.

Look straight ahead, keep your eyes fixed on your goal and don’t get sidetracked on detours that lead to temptation.

FRUITFUL OBSERVATION: We all know how quickly that we can let our thoughts get to thinking on negative iImage1ssues, which produces worry. We must be aware and change our view to the positive things of God. What we harbor in our heart comes out of our mouth

Let’s stay focused on what God’s Word says today and every day!

HIS WORD IS THE POWER THAT WE NEED TO DEFEAT THE DOUBT THAT THE devil BRINGS

Hearing, RUNNING and finally OBEYING:))

While reading my Bible and sitting with a warm heating pad on my back and a bowl of peanut M & M’s by my side, the thought of relaxation and peacefulness came over me as the cool breeze was blowing in through the window.ea8dbb0a627ef19b93fb4a47c731dc14

What a blessing to just be still in the presence of the Lord and His Word!

Jonah would have found himself much better sitting quietly and listening to God, instead of running away and catching a ship!images

The Book of Jonah shows that God can use a negative example to teach a positive lesson. The negative example is the prophet Jonah, whom God called to preach to the citizens of Nineveh. This great city was the capital of the Assyrian Empire. The Jews hated the Assyrians because they were sworn enemies who worshipped pagan gods. So Jonah tried to run away from God’s call. We know the story of how a violent storm strikes the ship, which led to Jonah admitting that he was running from God’s call. He advises the sailors to toss him¬†overboard to appease the anger of the Lord.

images We read that God saves Jonah by sending a great fish to swallow him, keeping him alive for three days in the stomach of the fish. Jonah prays for deliverance and the Lord hears and has him ejected from the fish unharmed and placed on the shore.

.Jonah_and_Great_Fish
Eventually, Jonah did travel to Nineveh and preach to the Ninevites, as God commanded him to do. But when they repented and turned to God, he sulked and pouted because the Lord refused to destroy them.
One positive thing we can say about Jonah is that he did dare to tell the truth about himself and his prejudice by writing the book that bears his name.
God reminded Jonah that He is merciful and a forgiving God, who loves all people, even the pagan Assyrians.

FRUITFUL OBSERVATION:God’s message is for everyone. Despite the wickedness of the Ninevite people, they were open to God’s message and repented immediately.

Let’s do our best today and every day to simply proclaim what we know of God, we may be surprised at how many people will listen.

A PRIDEFUL chip on the shoulder causes death!!

The book of Esther is unique-God is not mentioned. The heroine of the story is even cautioned to keep her Jewish heritage a secret!sys-devo2 Nevertheless, God’s work is evident.

I didn’t realize that Haman had a thousand-year-old chip on his shoulder. His ancestors, the Amalekites, had attacked the people of Israel without provocation when Moses was leading them out of Egypt. The Amalekites lost the battle, and this feud was never entirely settled. More than ten centuries later Haman held the political power to destroy all Jews.

ESTHER 3:1, 2
1 After these things did king Ahasuerus promote Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and advanced him, and set his seat above all the princes that were with him.
2 And all the king’s servants, that were in the king’s gate bowed, and reverenced Haman: for the king had so commanded concerning him. But Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence.

Haman enjoyed the power and prestige of his position, and he was enraged when Mordecai did not respond with the expected reverential bow. Haman’s anger was not directed just toward Mordecai, but toward what Mordecai stood for- the Jews dedication to God as the only authority worthy of reverence. Haman’s attitude was prejudiced; he hated a group of people because of a difference in belief and culture.
Prejudice grows out of personal pride-considering oneself better than others. In the end, Haman was punished for his arrogant attitude.(7:9 10). God will harshly judge those who are prejudiced or whose pride causes them to look down on others.

FRUITFUL OBSERVATION: It’s better to let go of issues in this life, rather than keep on harboring a time to ‘get even’ through selfish pride. Haman would’ve found himself a lot better off serving our ONE AND ONLY God instead of holding on to a one thousand- year old- grudge… Haman learned the hard way!!!5820728520_balloon_let_go_love_quote_sometimes_Favimcom_411957_answer_1_xlarge

Let’s give unsettled accounts to God today and every day and let Him settled all debts for us! LET GO AND LET GOD!

May we never doubt…

So I ask you today, what comes to your mind when you think of rusty nails? Odd question, huh? This morning as I took my puppy Jack for a walk, I wandered beside my son’s old wooden swingset. I stood there for a moment and thought of all the wonderful memories and fun laughter that once filled the air. As I turned to leave, I noticed the tree with the nails that he had so carefully hammered on a day long ago.

IMG_7558.JPG

I had forgotten about the nails from long ago

My mind automatically thought about Christ, and the nails that had pierced His body. Now a distant memory for most, as well as some that doubt that it ever actually happened, but as Christians, it should remain at the forefront of our mind and heart.

JOHN 20:24-25
24 But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.
25 The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.

Jesus was hard on Thomas for his doubts. Despite his skepticism, Thomas was still loyal to the believers and Jesus himself. Some need to doubt before they believe. If doubt leads to questions, the questions lead to answers, and the answers are accepted, and then doubt has done good work. It is when doubt becomes stubbornness and stubbornness become a lifestyle that doubt harms faith.

FRUITFUL OBSERVATION: When you doubt, don’t stop there. Let your doubt deepen your faith as you continue to search for the answer.

Let’s do our best today and every day to believe without seeing!

May we never forget what Christ did for us long ago and what He still continues to do for us today!

Are you sitting still and a little bored?

Here comes the start of a new week, but do you somehow feel like there isn’t much “new” to the week?
Do you find yourself hopeful as to what this week will hold and bring about for you by Friday? ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬†¬†OR…..

IMG_7342

OH HUM DEE DO…ANOTHER NEW WEEK…I CAN HARDLY WAIT…NOT!!!

Do you feel like your just sitting still and little a bored?

Let’s NOT be like Negative Nellie and Doubting Doug…Let’s trust in the Lord¬†for ALL things!

PROVERBS 3:5-6
5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart;
and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him,
and he shall direct thy paths.

IMG_7343

Nothing exciting happened last week…AND I DOUBT THAT IT DOES THIS WEEK!

This precious promise of divine guidance in one’s life choices is conditioned upon complete trust in God’s wisdom as revealed in His Word, along with unashamed acknowledgement of Him in all our dealings with others.

As Christians, we are aware of what God’s Word instructs us, SO let’s make this week a successful week in the Lord!¬† Let’s do our BEST to adjust our attitudes!!! If you find yourself discouraged by your circumstances, I want to encourage you to lift your voice in song and sing to the Lord. I know that your probably thinking “That’s the last thing that I feel like doing.PLEASE JUST TRY IT… The Spirit will comfort you and before you know it you will be feeling so much more positive in your day::)) Remember God is with us!

FRUITFUL OBSERVATION: We trust that God has the best plan for us as He directs our paths. Let’s come into His presence daily, ¬†and acknowledge Him as our Lord and Saviour.

IMG_7341Let’s be willing to sit quietly and trust in the Lord with ALL of our heart today and every day!

GET BACK UP BEFORE YOU FAINT!!!

IMG_7287.JPGSo I ask you today, have you ever felt like you are standing still in a situation without any changes? I know several of my readers personally who can answer with YES!! The other day while leaving my exercise room, I had gotten to the bottom of the steps only to find that Jack wasn’t so eager to come down the stairs behind me like he usually does.
He seemed to have lost his get up and go..IMG_7298.JPG
We find ourselves waiting for change day in and day out until we soon lose our excitement.

We must remember that the devil brings the four D’s, which are Doubt, discouragement, despair and division. I’ve added another D, and it is for down.¬†We sit down within our doubt and begin to think that things will not change anytime soon; our discouragement can cause us to despair. If we don’t keep our focus on Christ and His Word, we can create a division between God and us. The devil is the only one happy when this happens.
Let’s get a hold on our thinking, and not give into the devil’s tactics. Half of the battle is outsmarting the devil, and we can do that by coming into the presence of God every day and seeking His way and Will for us, and Putting on our FULL ARMOUR of God every day.

GALATIANS 6:9
9 And let us not be weary in well doing, for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

FRUITFUL OBSERVATION: Paul challenges the Galatians and us to keep on doing what is right and to trust God for the results. In due time, we reap a harvest of blessing.

IMG_7297.JPGLet’s pray to get back up and keep our focus on the ALL POWERFUL God that LOVES us and that supplies us the strength we need today and every day!

A cage isn’t a delightful place after all… is it?

IMG_6855.JPG

The door is ALWAYS open for us to DELIGHT ourselves IN HIM…First, we must commit!

Do you ever feel as if your being held back from what you would really like to be doing in life? Sometimes, it’s hard to find the way out of our current situation. Whether it be health challenges, or every day life…it can be difficult.
As many of you know, I recently closed my business due to neck and back issues. In the beginning, my attitude was one of acceptance, and then it turned to one of questioning why? I soon adjusted my thoughts to accept that God’s plan for me was no longer in that direction.
PSALMS 37:4-5
4 Delight thyself also in the Lord;
and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
5 Commit thy way unto the Lord;
trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

David tells us to take delight in the Lord and to commit everything we have and do to Him. But how do we do this? To commit ourselves to the Lord means entrusting everything- our lives, families, jobs, possessions- to His control and guidance. To commit ourselves to the Lord means to trust Him(37:5), believing that he can take care of us better than we can ourselves. We should be willing to wait (37:7) for Him to work out what is best for us.
To delight in someone means to experience great pleasure and joy in his or her presence. This happens only when we know that person well. So, to delight in the Lord, we must know Him better. Knowledge of His great LOVE for us will indeed give us delight.

FRUITFUL OBSERVATION: Sometimes we hold ourselves back and stay in our “cage” when in fact the Lord has the door wide open for us to come out and delight ourselves in Him.
Real joy comes from being in His presence!
Let’s take delight in the Lord and entrust Him with everything we have and do today and every day!

COME ON, GET IN THE RED WAGON…

IMG_6860

We all know how to fly right, but sometimes we have to be pulled in the right direction!

Hello and Happy Tuesday to you all:)

Have you ever had a day when you felt like you needed to be pulled along in the right direction to avoid what comes naturally?

PSALMS 34:11-14
11 Come, ye children, hearken unto me:
I will teach you the fear of the Lord.
12 What man is he that desireth life,
and loveth many days, that he may see good?
13 Keep thy tongue from evil,
and thy lips from speaking guile.
14 Depart from evil, and do good;
seek peace, and pursue it.

The Bible often connects the fear of the Lord (love and reverence for him) with obedience. “Fear God, and keep his commandments” (Ecclesiastes 12:13); If a man love me, he will keep my words” (John 14:23). David said that a person who fears the Lord doesn’t lie, turns from sin, does good, and promotes peace.
Reverence is much more than sitting quietly in church. It includes obeying God in the way we speak and the way we treat others.
David encouraged others to trust and fear God and to exemplify faith, truth, obedience, and goodness in their lives.

Somehow we think that peace should come to us with no effort. But David explained that we are to seek and pursue peace. Paul echoed this thought in Romans 12:18. A person who wants peace cannot be argumentative and contentious.
Since peaceful relationships come from our efforts at peacemaking, work hard at living in peace with others each day.

FRUITFUL OBSERVATION:
As humans, our natural tendency is not always in line with God’s Word. Let’s try to make a real effort today and every day to do what He commands. Depart from evil and do good.
