Encouraging others in Christ

No matter how BIG the glasses,IT won’t be any clearer:)

How often is it difficult for us not to look back on our past?

nerdy-girl             And even more difficult to look forward to our future?

This question comes after several encounters this week with other believers.

We can feel as if we are in a place that seems so unfamiliar to us. At times,
images

we may even long to go back to the familiarity of when life was comfortable for us!

PHILIPPIANS 3:12-14

12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.
13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended:but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Paul said his goal was to know Christ, to be like Christ, and to be all Christ has in mind for him. This goal absorbed all his energy. This is an example for us. We should not let anything take our eyes off our goal-Christ.
Paul had reason to feel sorrow about the past-he held the coats of those who stoned Stephen, the first Christian martyr (Acts 7:57, 58), he is called Saul here). Most of us do not have the type of guilt that Paul had due to his past when he was a persecutor of Christians. We all have done things for which we are ashamed. Because our hope is in Christ, however, we can let go of the past guilt, as well as the comforts of familiarity and look forward to what He will help us become. We should not dwell on what we had (that which we thought was so good), instead, grow in the knowledge of God by concentrating on our relationship with Him now.

FRUITFUL OBSERVATION: We know that we are forgiven, and then we move on to a life of faith and obedience. We need to look forward to a fuller and more meaningful life because of our hope in Christ. He has the BEST PLAN FOR US!Ph.3.12.14-224x300c5dedfbdd02f26863e9afa85b2ae5bf5

Let’s start living the life that Christ wants us to have today and every day! 🙂 No looking back…only FORWARD FOR HIM:) Take the first step!

A HEART CONDITION CAN BE FATAL!!!

How many times have you been having a great day and then allow yourself to lose focus? Scripture tells us that it is important for us to keep our focus on the right things in life.1d3954052d24d5f8ebb4500a3eaf3956

PROVERBS 4:23-27

23 Keep thy heart with all diligence;
for out of it are the issues of life.
24 Put away from thee a froward mouth,
and perverse lips put far from thee.
25 Let thine eyes look right on,
and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.
26 Ponder the path of thy feet,
and let all thy ways be established.
27 Turn not to the right hand nor to the left:
remove thy foot from evil.

Our heart-our feeling of love and desire dictates to a great extent how we live, because we always find time to do what we enjoy. Solomon tells us to keep our heart with all diligence, making sure we concentrate on those desires that will keep us on the right path.

Make sure your affections push you in the right direction. Put boundaries on your desires: don’t go after everything you see.

Look straight ahead, keep your eyes fixed on your goal and don’t get sidetracked on detours that lead to temptation.

FRUITFUL OBSERVATION: We all know how quickly that we can let our thoughts get to thinking on negative iImage1ssues, which produces worry. We must be aware and change our view to the positive things of God. What we harbor in our heart comes out of our mouth

Let’s stay focused on what God’s Word says today and every day!

NO RECORDS OF SIN, ONCE WASHED AND CLEANED

PSALMS 51:1-4
1 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness:
according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity,
and cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I acknowledge my transgressions:
and my sin is ever before me.
4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned,
and done this evil in thy sight:
that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest,
and be clear when thou judgest.

We see that David was truly sorry for his adultery with Bath-sheba and for murdering her husband to cover it up. He knew his actions had hurt many people. But because David repented of those sins, God mercifully forgave him. No sin is too great to be forgiven!
While God forgives us, however, He does not always erase the natural consequences of our sin-David’s life, and family were never the same as a result of his sin (2 Samuel 12:1-23).

We are also told in Scripture that God does not keep a record of our sins.
HEBREWS 10:17
17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.

The writer concludes his argument with this powerful statement that God will never remember our sins. Christ forgives completely, so there is no need to confess our past sins repeatedly.

We are told in REVELATION 21:27

27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie:but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.
IMG_7933

FRUITFUL OBSERVATION: As believers, we can be confident that the sins we confess and renounce are forgiven and forgotten.

Let’s live our life today and every day knowing that God keeps NO RECORDS of our past and forgiven sins! STAY CLEAN IN HIS SIGHT:))

Believing, RESISTING and living VICTORIOUSLY :))))

As Christians, do you know that we are told to RESIST the devil? Scripture tells us to resist the devil, and he will flee from us

IMG_7834.jpg

I cherish the Word of God, and believe every WORD is TRUE AND GOD BREATHED!! Now…let’s apply it!

I don’t know about you, BUT I for one am TOTALLY resisting him.
I have had it with him sneaking around, as well as slipping right on up and using people. We must be aware of what God’s Word tells us to do and live as He has called us to live.

JAMES 4:7-10
7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
9 Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.
10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

Although God and satan are at war, we don’t need to wait until the end to see who will win. God has already defeated satan (Colossians 2:13-15; Revelation 12:10-12), and when Christ returns, satan and all he stands for will be eliminated forever (Revelation 20:10-15). satan is here now, however, and he is trying to win us over to his evil cause. With the Holy Spirit’s power, we can resist satan, and he will flee from us.

How can you draw close (“nigh“) to God? James gives five suggestions? (1) “Submit to God“(4:7), Realize that you need his forgiveness, and be willing to follow Him. (2) “Resist the devil” (4:7). Don’t allow him to entice and tempt you. (3) “Cleanse your hands… and purify your hearts”(that is lead a pure life) (4:8). Be cleansed from sin, replacing it with God’s purity. (4) Let there be fears, sorrow, and sincere grief for your sins, (4:9). Don’t be afraid to express deep heartfelt sorrow for them. (5) Humble yourself before God, and He will lift you up (4:10; 1 Peter 5:6).

FRUITFUL OBSERVATION: God has given us what we need to live a powerful and victorious life in Christ. The same power that raised our LORD and SAVIOUR from the grave is alive and available to us as Christians today. We must make ourselves disciplined to reading and applying His Word in our lives DAILY!

LET US DO OUR PART AND RESIST THE devil AND he WILL FLEE…he HAS NO CHOICE BECAUSE OUR SCRIPTURES TELL US THAT he WILL FLEE!!
(I always put my Armour on (EPHESIANS 6:11-17) first thing in the morning and rebuke the devil in JESUS NAME!!)IMG_7903

May we never doubt…

So I ask you today, what comes to your mind when you think of rusty nails? Odd question, huh? This morning as I took my puppy Jack for a walk, I wandered beside my son’s old wooden swingset. I stood there for a moment and thought of all the wonderful memories and fun laughter that once filled the air. As I turned to leave, I noticed the tree with the nails that he had so carefully hammered on a day long ago.

IMG_7558.JPG

I had forgotten about the nails from long ago

My mind automatically thought about Christ, and the nails that had pierced His body. Now a distant memory for most, as well as some that doubt that it ever actually happened, but as Christians, it should remain at the forefront of our mind and heart.

JOHN 20:24-25
24 But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.
25 The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.

Jesus was hard on Thomas for his doubts. Despite his skepticism, Thomas was still loyal to the believers and Jesus himself. Some need to doubt before they believe. If doubt leads to questions, the questions lead to answers, and the answers are accepted, and then doubt has done good work. It is when doubt becomes stubbornness and stubbornness become a lifestyle that doubt harms faith.

FRUITFUL OBSERVATION: When you doubt, don’t stop there. Let your doubt deepen your faith as you continue to search for the answer.

Let’s do our best today and every day to believe without seeing!

May we never forget what Christ did for us long ago and what He still continues to do for us today!

GET BACK UP BEFORE YOU FAINT!!!

IMG_7287.JPGSo I ask you today, have you ever felt like you are standing still in a situation without any changes? I know several of my readers personally who can answer with YES!! The other day while leaving my exercise room, I had gotten to the bottom of the steps only to find that Jack wasn’t so eager to come down the stairs behind me like he usually does.
He seemed to have lost his get up and go..IMG_7298.JPG
We find ourselves waiting for change day in and day out until we soon lose our excitement.

We must remember that the devil brings the four D’s, which are Doubt, discouragement, despair and division. I’ve added another D, and it is for downWe sit down within our doubt and begin to think that things will not change anytime soon; our discouragement can cause us to despair. If we don’t keep our focus on Christ and His Word, we can create a division between God and us. The devil is the only one happy when this happens.
Let’s get a hold on our thinking, and not give into the devil’s tactics. Half of the battle is outsmarting the devil, and we can do that by coming into the presence of God every day and seeking His way and Will for us, and Putting on our FULL ARMOUR of God every day.

GALATIANS 6:9
9 And let us not be weary in well doing, for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

FRUITFUL OBSERVATION: Paul challenges the Galatians and us to keep on doing what is right and to trust God for the results. In due time, we reap a harvest of blessing.

IMG_7297.JPGLet’s pray to get back up and keep our focus on the ALL POWERFUL God that LOVES us and that supplies us the strength we need today and every day!

HAVE YOU CHECKED YOUR SOIL LATELY?

Have you ever wonder why some people who hear the Word of God fall by the wayside and stunt their growth?

P1000275-A.jpg

The yield depended on the condition of the soil where the seed fell

Jesus tells the parable of the four soils
LUKE 8:5-8
5 A sower went our to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell, by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it.
6 And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture.
7 And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it.
8 And other fell on good ground and sprang up and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when He had said these things, He cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Why would a farmer allow precious seed to land “by the way side,” upon rocks, or thorns? This is not an irresponsible farmer scattering seeds at random. He is using the acceptable method of hand-seeding a large field-casting it by handfuls as he walks through the field. His goal is to get as much seed as possible to take root in good soil, but there is an inevitable waste as some falls or is blown into less productive places. That some of the seed produced no crop was not the fault of the faithful farmer or the seed. The yield depended on the condition of the soil where the seed fell. It is our responsibility to spread the seed (God’s message), but we should not give up when some of our efforts fail. Remember not every seed falls on good soil.

Jesus explained the parable of the four soils as follows:
Wayside people, like many of the religious leaders, refused to believe God’s message. Hard-rock people, like many in the crowds who followed Jesus, believed His message but never got around to doing anything about it. Thorn-patch people, over come by materialism, left no room in their lives for God. Good-soil People, in contrast to all the other groups, followed no matter what the cost. Which type of soil are you?

FRUITFUL OBSERVATION: God’s Word is the seed in which we, as Christians should be spreading to others. Not only by our word of mouth but our actions.

Let’s put forth GREAT EFFORT IN PREPARING OUR SOIL to receive God’s WORD  today and every day!imagesOrganic-Farming-2-0a2fc8a8

LOOK CLOSER AND YOU WILL SEE THE LIGHT:)

DON’T GIVE UP ! GOD KNOWS WHEN TO SHINE:)

Oh my goodness!! Have you ever felt like quitting? Come on at least once or twice right? 🙂
I find it amazing how God knows the situation, and if we will seek Him, He is faithful in showing up to help us through it.
A cry of distress in a sea of trouble. We may have to suffer severely for our devotion to God, but that should cause us to look forward with joy to the day when evil and injustice will be gone forever.  🙂

PSALMS 69:1-4
1 Save me, O God; for the waters are come in unto my soul.
2 I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me.
3 I am weary of my crying; my throat is dried; mine eyes fail while I wait for my God.
4 They that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of mine head; they that would destroy me, being mine enemies wrongfully, are mighty: then I restored that which I took not away.

This is one of the most quoted Psalms in the New Testament, and it is often applied to the ministry and suffering of Jesus. Verse 4, like John 15:25, speaks of Jesus’ many enemies. The experience of being mocked by His brothers (69:8) is expressed in John 7:5.
David wept until he was physically exhausted, with a dry throat and blurred vision. He wept until he could weep no more, yet he still trusted God to save him. When devastated by death or tragedy, we need not collapse or despair because we can turn to God and ask Him to save us and help us. The tears will still come, but we will not be crying in vain.

FRUITFUL OBSERVATION: So many times in this life we will face difficulties. We must realize that the devil is not happy about our serving the Lord, and he will not stop quickly at trying to distract us from serving the ALL KNOWING AND ALL MIGHTY GOD. Remember if the devil can’t distract us, he will move on to someone close by who doesn’t have their Armour on for God, and without their realizing it, he gets inside of them and uses them against us in many ways.

Let’s remember that God is with us today and every day! All we have to do is seek Him AND SOMETIMES IT MAY TAKE MANY EARNEST PRAYERS !  🙂

Be watchful for those who climbeth up some other way…

But he that entereth in by the door is the Shepherd of the sheep

Have you ever considered yourself to be like sheep? And I’m not referring to the cute and cuddly aspect, Although God thinks we are cute and cuddly also:))!

Jesus used many different object lessons during His teaching.
JOHN 10:4-5
4 And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.
5 And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.

Chapter ten begins with the GREAT revelation of Jesus as the Shepherd of Life. Jesus is pictured as the only true Shepherd of the sheep. There is a sheepfold, a pen where all the sheep are kept. The sheepfold pictures the place of acceptance by God or the location of safety and security in God’s presence. The sheep are disciples or believers of the Lord.
The sheep know the Shepherd’s voice. They know both His sound and His words. The sound of His voice is not uncertain and unclear, not weak and frail, not quivering and indecisive. It is clear, strong, sure and decisive. The words of His voice are words of care and tenderness, warning and safety, truth and security. Believers trust the Word of Christ because they know His voice. The sheep follow the Shepherd. He goes before them to lead the way. He does not drive them like cattle. He leads to pick out the safe and secure way to the pasture. He leads to show the sheep that the road is clear and safe. The sheep know this, so they follow the Shepherd, knowing they are perfectly safe and secure following the path He has laid out before them.

As believers, hearing God speak to us is our right and our privilege from Him. The Word says that we can know His voice and distinguish it from others; He gives us discernment to identify His voice over voices of deception.
John parallels this discernment with the instinctive nature of sheep that recognizes the voice of their shepherd.

FRUITFUL OBSERVATION: The more we study and learn the Word, the more HE will allow us to let its power flow through our lives and the better we will be able to hear, discern and obey God’s voice.

Let’s get quite and spend time in God’s Word so that we can hear Him today and every day!
